Sony has opened up registration for a new PlayStation Network beta service for PS4. When the system goes live on 2 September, users who've signed up will be able to test new functions on the digital backbone that supports the console network's infrastructure.
The beta is intended to test functionality of the PS4's next major update, before it gets pushed out as a platform-wide update. In the event of the overhaul causing problems, Sony has confirmed that all participants can roll back to the current v2.57 system software at any point.
